Once you are 17 and have a valid
provisional licence you can take your first driving lesson.
You can apply for a provisional licence up to
three months before you are 17 and book your
first driving lesson for on your birthday!
You will need a valid provisional driving licence to take your theory test.
Once you have passed your theory and hazard perception test you can apply for your practical test.
To pass your practical test, you have to show that you are able to safely drive in all manner of driving situations. You'll be asked to demonstrate certain manoeuvres, and often to make an emergency stop. You'll also be required to answer various vehicle safety check questions.
Once you have passed, you could become a more confident driver with Pass Plus, tuition for motorway travelling and other areas such as all-weather driving, out of town and rural roads, driving at night and dual carriageways that may not have been covered in detail previously.
A Pass Plus can also help to save money on your insurance too.
